Heather's Character Representation

  1. I know who it is! Ms. O'Brien. Like the upside down cup!

  2. The pair of glasses and the poem together really represent Ms. O'Brien's challenge as a person and a prosecuter. I think you're right--she is forever hearing how its someone else's fault and the blame only looks like it should be pointing toward the accused. How common is it to deny, make excuses, over-emphasize circumstances in order to counteract actual wrong-doing...as if explaining one's way out of a wrong is an acceptable this to do. All of the accused in this book had explanations, but her glasses--keen, clear vision--is required to see though the 'same 'ole song" of an alibi.

I loved her cup game too--you can't say maybe or I don't know with a cup!
